Overview

Teledyne LeCroy R&D Team is looking for a PRINCIPAL HARDWARE DESIGN ENGINEER with 8–15 years of experience in architecting and designing complex electronic products/subsystems including precision analog circuitry, ADCs, DACs, high-speed digital circuits (FPGAs, microcontrollers), and power supplies. The role covers the entire product development lifecycle from requirements to launch and mass production of next-generation instruments using state-of-the-art technology.

Responsibilities

  • Architect precision, high-speed, and RF analog and mixed-signal circuitry used in Probes and Acquisition systems.
  • Define specifications for custom ICs.
  • Create documentation required for product planning and architecture.
  • Develop schematic designs and oversee layout of complex high-frequency PCBs, ceramic and organic packages.
  • Design test fixtures and automated test routines to support prototype testing.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Electrical, Software, Mechanical, and Manufacturing engineers to deliver shippable products.
  • Support and review product changes throughout their operational life.

Education and Experience

BSEE with 10+ years of electronic design experience or MSEE with 8+ years of electronic design experience.

  • Knowledge of high-speed analog design, signal integrity, transmission lines, RF and microwave concepts.
  • Ability to analyze circuits in frequency and time domains.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to drive meetings and design reviews, and to create content (drawings, slides, graphs) explaining complex systems or data.
  • Ability to train and mentor new engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • General electronic design including power supply design, MCUs, clocking, transistor-level design, and PCB technology.
  • Understanding of FPGA design, IC design, and package design for ICs.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage design considerations.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-disciplinary activities (Mechanical, Software, QA, Manufacturing).
  • Experience with test equipment (Digital Oscilloscopes, Network Analyzers); measurement calibration and automation.
  • Design simulation tools: Orcad, PSpice, Excel, Ansys, MATLAB or equivalents.
  • Scripting for measurement automation and data analysis (Python, VB, or similar).
