Overview

Beehive Industries is seeking a Principal Engineer, Controls Hardware (Gas Turbine Engine) to specify, develop, integrate, and test gas turbine engine control system sensors, actuators, and accessories. The role partners with cross-functional leadership to deliver the overall engine control system and may be located in Englewood, Colorado or Loveland, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, and evaluation of hardware for an aviation engine control system. This includes setting engine control hardware requirements, designing actuators and pumps for the engine control, integrating and iterating with engine software design and analysis, predicting and simulating engine performance or control logic with computer tools and component tests, and formally issuing the hardware design for an engine control system.
  • Design, procure, and validate electronic engine control systems (EEC/FADEC) and associated subsystems (sensors, fuel systems, lubrication, and other auxiliaries). Lead software and hardware in the loop simulator design, commissioning, and integration testing. Integrate engine performance and control system models into hardware/software simulators to predict and validate performance. Support setting software requirements and designs for engine control hardware.
  • Lead engine system or component test programs from a controls hardware perspective, including defining test objectives, instrumentation, data requirements, and test planning to validate the engine design.
  • Serve as the engine control hardware subject matter expert within a diverse design team. Coordinate with performance, operability, transient, mechanical, and aero engineers to optimize the engine control system.
  • Lead design reviews and coordinate with disciplines in design, performance, controls, stress and life, additive manufacturing, materials, and system analysis.
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
  • Participate in R&D of technologies and methodologies related to additive design and advise on improving product design through additive manufacturing.
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data generated in line with engineering best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • At least 12+ years of experience in engine control systems.
  • Strong understanding of engine control tools (e.g., Matlab).
  • Experience with additive manufacturing technologies and design for additive manufacturing principles.
  • Passion for additive technology and willingness to challenge current design limitations.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and strong program leadership and execution skills.
  • Proven self-starter and quick learner capable of working in fast-paced cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required for clearance eligibility.

Pay and Benefits

Salary range: 139,113 - 234,476 USD per year (Colorado). The salary is a general guideline and factors such as scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions will be considered.
