Responsibilities

  • The Human Resources Specialist supports local recruiting and outreach efforts with the centralized recruiting team to meet monthly and annual targets, ensuring a positive candidate and hiring manager experience.
  • Assist in administration and tracking of employee development training.
  • Engage employees and resolve issues professionally; escalate concerns as appropriate and relay insights to facility management, Regional HR, and Corporate HR.
  • Perform employee onboarding, data entry into the HR Information System, and new employee orientation; ensure understanding of policies and the employee handbook.
  • Resolve employee inquiries and update the HRIS with necessary inputs; report unresolved issues to HR Manager.
  • Maintain records of insurance, retirement plans, and personnel transactions (hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, etc.).
  • Process performance reviews, wage/salary transactions, and disciplinary actions within approved authority and deadlines.
  • Process leaves of absence in the timekeeping system and ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and applicable laws.
  • Guide employees on HR policies and procedures (e.g., Time Off with Pay, Tuition Reimbursement).
  • May attend hearings as the HR representative.
  • Compile information to file workers’ compensation claims with the insurance carrier as needed.
  • Prepare routine and special reports by analyzing trends and identifying high-risk areas.
  • Provide referral support for the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of related HR experience, or higher education degree with one (1) year of related HR experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR concepts, practices, procedures, and basic employment laws.
  • Experience with an HR Information System is preferred.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to gain the respect of all employees.
  • Excellent organization, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other HR software.
