Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
- Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
- Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, coupons, and loyalty offers according to company policy.
- Adhere to company limits on cash shortages/overages and work to control loss honestly and effectively.
- Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
- Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
- Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
- Stay current with store ads and promotions.
- Comply with all food safety regulations and safety procedures.
- Identify unsafe conditions or accidents and notify management.
- Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.
- Create a welcoming environment, answering questions about products.
- Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
- Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflicts in a nonconfrontational manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed.
- Support customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer service experience
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Customer service experience
- Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
