Your Day at Lowe's

As a cashier, you answer customer questions, assist with payments and exchanges, and ensure every customer leaves satisfied. Most time is spent at the register, but you may help in other areas such as assisting other departments, stocking shelves, or moving carts as needed. If you enjoy helping customers and solving problems in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver a fast, friendly, and professional checkout experience
  • Proactively assist customers in the self-checkout area
  • Scan and bag items accurately and efficiently
  • Manage a cash register, payments, and exchanges
  • Answer customer questions
  • Maintain a clean, safe workstation
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Reading, writing, and basic arithmetic (addition and subtraction)
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods
  • Experience using a computer for inputting, accessing, modifying, or outputting information
  • Minimally lift 10 lbs unassisted or over 15 lbs with or without accommodation
  • Obtain sales-related licensure or registration if required by law in your state

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail and/or customer service experience
  • Bilingual skills

Travel Requirements

This role does not require regular travel; however, it may travel occasionally to meetings, training, or to support neighboring stores.

Working Conditions

Environmental factors vary by location. You may work in indoor and outdoor conditions with varying climates, including extreme heat or cold, wet, damp, humid, windy, or drafty conditions. You may be exposed to constant or intermittent noises and to moving or shaking objects and equipment. Lifting methods vary; lifts are limited to 75 pounds single-lift, with team lifts starting at 75 pounds or when needed. Powered equipment should be used with proper training or assistance.
