General Description Of Work
Whatcom Community College invites applications for part-time, adjunct faculty American Sign Language (ASL) Instructor to teach starting Fall quarter 2025.
Whatcom Community College (WCC) is looking for candidates who strive to create a thriving learning community that supports excellence, opportunity, and equity for students. Expectations
Responsibilities
- Proficiently use Canvas learning management system if teaching online course.
- Develop curriculum and assess learning outcomes.
- Provide student-centered equity-based instruction.
- Availability to teach in in-person, online, and hybrid.
- Align professional practices with the mission of WCC.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in ASL, Linguistics, Deaf Studies or comparable program from an accredited university.
- Certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA).
- Experience teaching ASL in-person.
- Experience teaching ASL online.
Salary
- $6,178.00 for fall quarter.
- Accrues a percentage of 7 hours (equal to the percentage of workload) per month of sick leave (ex. 50% quarterly employment contract x 7 hrs for full-time = 3.5 hrs per month for that quarter.)
- Fall quarter 2025 -September 23rd, 2025 is the first day of the quarter.
