CAAs and CRNAs are highly skilled health professionals working under licensed anesthesiologists to implement anesthesia care plans. They work exclusively within the anesthesia care team environment as described by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). All Anesthetists have a premedical background, a baccalaureate degree, and complete comprehensive graduate-level didactic and clinical training. Their education focuses on delivering quality anesthesia care and advanced patient monitoring techniques. The goal is to transform qualified students into competent healthcare practitioners in the anesthesia care team.

Certified Anesthesia Assistant

  • Hold current active state licensure as an Anesthesiologist Assistant in Georgia and comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Graduate of a Master’s degree in Anesthesia.
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the required limits.
  • Demonstrate current competency in clinical responsibilities.
  • Perform clinically as an anesthetist regularly in the facility setting.
  • Operate, interpret data from, and utilize a variety of equipment to provide anesthesia and perioperative care, ensuring patient safety.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff and disciplines.
  • Provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served, considering developmental stages and age-specific needs.
  • Follow infection prevention and control techniques.
  • Maintain confidential records.
  • Adhere to facility policies and procedures.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

  • Hold current active state licensure as a registered nurse in Georgia and comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Graduate from an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.
  • Be certified or recertified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the required limits.
  • Demonstrate current competency in clinical responsibilities.
  • Perform clinically as a nurse anesthetist regularly in the facility setting.
  • Operate, interpret data from, and utilize a variety of equipment to provide anesthesia and perioperative care, ensuring patient safety.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff and disciplines.
  • Provide care appropriate to the patient population(s), considering developmental stages and age-specific needs.
  • Follow infection prevention and control techniques.
  • Maintain confidential records.
  • Adhere to facility policies and procedures.
