Cybersecurity (CSS) Affiliate Instructor — Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver)

The Department of Computer Sciences Cybersecurity Bachelor’s Program invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty teaching positions to deliver innovative and industry-relevant cybersecurity education.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate cybersecurity courses
  • Design and update curriculum to reflect the latest trends in cybersecurity
  • Engage students in hands-on learning experiences

An affiliate faculty member’s duties include but are not limited to: teaching assigned classes in person or online, delivering course content, preparing course materials and lesson plans, grading student work, providing timely feedback, addressing student questions per university policies, and providing online or in-person academic support as needed. Maintain office hours and comply with university policies regarding assessment and peer observation. Adapt and learn new modes of instruction as needed. Candidates should be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field; OR a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields with a minimum of five years of cybersecurity industry experience
  • Proven ability in education, technical aptitude, creative problem-solving, and teamwork
  • Excellent communication skills and knowledge of national cybersecurity educational frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry and higher education teaching experience
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications

Terms of Employment

Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis, usually on a semester-by-semester basis. They are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All teaching assignments depend on budget and enrollment. Qualified candidates will be expected to teach in person on campus upon hire.

Salary

The final salary is based on the number of credit hours assigned at a rate determined by university policy. For more information, view pay rates under the College of Aerospace, Computing, Engineering, and Design: Affiliate-Rates-AY-25-26.
