Overview

Dock & Door Technician role at HOJ Innovations. Idaho Material Handling is seeking candidates in the Idaho Falls area to join our service team as a Dock & Door Technician. The technician will primarily install, repair, and maintain overhead mechanical doors and dock leveler equipment at customer locations. Basic routine maintenance on forklifts may be included where applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Install new or modified commercial overhead door systems, dock seals, bumpers, and all types of dock leveler equipment.
  • Ensure installation projects meet customer expectations and design requirements.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance to inspect and troubleshoot malfunctioning or damaged equipment and recommend repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • May assist Forklift Service by performing basic preventative maintenance (PM) on forklift equipment (tune-ups, oil changes, tires/brakes, battery replacement, etc.).
  • Coordinate problem resolution with manager and/or customer to expedite repairs.
  • Operate lifts, winches, and related hardware; replace worn or broken parts (e.g., springs, openers, brackets); install new door systems as needed.
  • Maintain communication between customer and company to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Use mechanical skills and learn new techniques to stay current with product requirements for installing and servicing various commercial doors.
  • Document service and installation by completing work orders, inspections, ordering parts, and providing estimates.
  • Work with Parts Department to obtain parts and technical information needed to repair equipment.
  • Operate lift trucks and equipment as required; maintain service truck and inventory.
  • May assist in installation and service of other material handling equipment.
  • Comply with all safety standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One year of experience installing commercial doors
  • Knowledge of electrical wiring and basic welding techniques is a plus
  • Willingness to train the right candidate with strong mechanical aptitude

Qualifications

  • Mechanical aptitude; welding and fabrication skills
  • Commitment to safety and OSHA, DOT, and site-specific requirements
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools
  • Sound decision making and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with rigging and lifting equipment (cranes, forklifts, telehandlers)
  • Safe operation of company vehicles, towing and load securement
  • Ability to work with others and independently with limited supervision after training
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with customers, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Ability to work at heights (scissor lifts, ladders, scaffolding, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional overtime
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred
  • DOT rules apply when operating company vehicles
  • Ability to pass background checks and random drug screenings
  • Positive attitude and adherence to company policies
  • Maintain and strengthen customer relationships as a representative of HOJ & Idaho Material Handling

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work for long hours with tools and PPE
  • Ability to lift/move up to 100 lbs., with ability to perform prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions

Location: Idaho Falls, ID and surrounding area. Employment type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
