JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Production Supervisor to join our growing team.

The Opportunity

As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing and implementing all production operations and shop activities. Working with the Plant and Production Managers where applicable, this position is a key driver of JELD-WEN’s KPIs, including SQDCI, TPS, OTD, and Continuous Improvement initiatives in direct support of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.

What You Will Do

  • Under the direction of the Production Manager, manage and implement the activities on the shop floor, following established procedures and approved processes consistent with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
  • Provide direct leadership to Lead employees and their subordinates in assigned production areas in support of plant operations, goals and objectives.
  • Act as a liaison between upper management and hourly employees, providing timely feedback up and down the organizational hierarchy.
  • Directly supervise all production and production support operations and drive SQDCI, TPS, OTD and CI activities during the process.
  • Develop and manage team member performance and capabilities based on company KPIs.
  • Ensure team activities, equipment, facilities, and personnel are operated and maintained in line with plant production goals and objectives established by Plant and Production Managers and corporate goals.
  • Assist the Plant Manager and Production Manager in establishing and monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality control standards in accordance with SQDCI, TPS, and CI methodologies.
  • Maintain and, when necessary, adjust plant facilities and equipment in conjunction with CI initiatives, goals/objectives.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish plant/company goals and objectives in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Assist in safety awareness programs, communicate safety issues, correct safety-related problems, and assist in investigations as needed and directed.
  • Assist in performance evaluations of staff and proactive actions of subordinate personnel on a regular basis.
  • May perform other duties as directed by Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Production Manager, or other supervisory personnel.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in a related field and one to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the window and door industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by plant management.
  • Some related college work and five to seven years of applicable work experience as determined by plant management.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, preferably for door and window applications.
  • Fundamental knowledge of production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and CI methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, problem solving skills, and ability to drive manufacturing process improvement.
  • Strong team skills with the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide training on CI methods to subordinates.
  • Ability to motivate others, resolve conflict, and understand basic management principles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy.
  • Basic understanding of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement, corporate goals, and KPI.
  • Strong knowledge of door and window production machines and tools.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities daily.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other position-applicable software.
  • Travel is primarily local during the business day; occasional travel to seminars and training may be required.
