Heartland Meat Company has been an expert meat producer of specialty cuts of beef, pork, poultry, lamb and offal products for over 50 years. Most famously known for the creation of “carne asada picada,” a signature cut of beef to cook quickly and evenly for the highest quality pre-cut carne asada around. Position Summary

The Production Manager oversees day-to-day production operations and supervises Production employees to ensure quality, safety and production standards.

General Purpose Of The Position

The Production Manager leads day-to-day production operations, which may include facility management, budget execution and quality assurance. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and guidance to employees in production.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; as well as addressing complaints and assisting in appropriate resolutions

Essential Duties & Core Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule production activities including reviewing production schedule, orders and raw product inventory to plan, make adjustments, and coordinate with Buyers to ensure there is enough product on hand.
  • Direct and lead the production team in the day-to-day operations and ensure tasks are completed in accordance with HACCP and USDA regulations
  • Manage work priorities and allocate resources to meet assigned timelines and goals
  • Analyze and manage inventory levels to avoid out-of-stock issues
  • Administer quality control testing
  • Correct product handling issues
  • Evaluate current production quantities and implement improved schedule to maximize efficiency
  • Maintain cooler rotation and organization
  • Work closely with sales team on testing new products and product training
  • Direct the routine maintenance and set up of machines, equipment and facilities
  • Perform daily walks and visual inspections of the production and warehouse facilities in observation of unsafe condition and take immediate corrective action
  • Trains and develops employees to ensure safe operating procedures are followed
  • Adheres to product specification requirements throughout the manufacturing process to maintain the desired product quality
  • Maintains expert-level knowledge of products and equipment to ensure the ability to direct employees to perform the job properly
  • Meet with Plant Manager and Production Supervisor daily to review operations, plan, resolve any production concerns, and communicate relevant information.
  • Ensures employee compliance with plant safety and operational standards and regulations.
  • Tracks and maintains reporting of key product result measures to identify improvement opportunities
  • Oversee the production process, including receipt of incoming product, plant maintenance and sanitation.

Education & Experience

  • Education: College degree in Agricultural Science or related field, or comparable experience required.
  • Certification: HACCP Certification and strong knowledge of GMPs, quality regulatory requirements and systems preferred
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a meat production facility and 2+ years supervising employees

Pay Range

$37.00- $42.00 Per Hour
