The Production Manager is responsible for leading, planning, and directing all production operations to ensure efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness across the manufacturing floor. This role provides strategic oversight of production supervisors, ensuring production schedules are met, continuous improvement initiatives are implemented, and solar manufacturing processes operate at the highest industry standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead daily production operations, ensuring alignment with company goals, customer requirements, and production targets.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term departmental strategies that support overall organizational objectives.
  • Oversee Production Supervisors, providing coaching, guidance, and direction to ensure effective team performance.
  • Monitor quality control throughout the production process, enforcing standards and driving continuous improvement to maintain product integrity and compliance.
  • Manage production costs by controlling material usage, optimizing resources, and implementing lean manufacturing principles.
  • Coordinate manpower, machinery, materials, and processes to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure accurate product identification, recordkeeping, and traceability across all stages of production.
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks, recommending process improvements to increase throughput and reduce waste.
  • Manage equipment and tooling maintenance programs, ensuring reliable and efficient production line performance.
  • Enforce production safety standards, 6S, and compliance with industry and company policies; build a culture of accountability and safety awareness.
  • Recruit, train, and develop production staff to strengthen leadership capabilities and technical expertise within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Maintenance, to achieve operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / SKILLS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, or related discipline preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in a related field with extensive solar production experience will also be considered.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of production management experience, including 5+ years in the solar industry.
  • Proven experience managing supervisors and leading large-scale production teams.
  • Demonstrated success in solar PV cell/module production environments, with strong knowledge of quality and process controls.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of PV cell and/or module production processes, troubleshooting techniques, and key control points.
  • Proficiency in lean manufacturing, IE, JIT, and other scientific management techniques.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and analytical abilities with a track record of implementing process improvements.
  • Ability to balance high-level strategic planning with hands-on problem solving in a fast-paced production environment.
