The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of our manufacturing operations. This individual is responsible for ensuring that daily production goals are met in terms of output, quality, efficiency, and safety. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the Production Supervisor will lead and manage a team of production workers, providing direction, training, and motivation to achieve optimal performance.
In this role, the supervisor will plan and allocate resources effectively, monitor production processes, and proactively address any issues that may impact productivity or product quality. A key focus will be on driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance, reduce waste, and support a culture of safety and accountability on the shop floor. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a hands-on approach to problem-solving, and the ability to foster collaboration within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee day-to-day activities on the production floor to ensure manufacturing runs smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with production goals and deadlines.
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of production workers, promoting a positive and productive work environment. Provide coaching, mentoring, and support to help team members achieve performance and development goals.
- Coordinate work schedules, assign tasks based on production priorities, and manage labor resources to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Monitor production processes to ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications. Work with the Quality Assurance team to address any issues and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Enforce strict adherence to safety regulations and company policies. Promote a culture of safety and lead by example in conducting daily safety checks and ensuring safe work practices are followed.
- Continuously monitor production lines, equipment, and workflow. Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to boost operational efficiency and reduce waste.
- Work closely with departments such as Quality Control, Maintenance, Engineering, and Logistics to resolve production issues, align on goals, and coordinate workflow.
- Maintain accurate records of daily output, material usage, equipment downtime, labor hours, and production-related incidents. Prepare and submit reports to management as required.
- Ensure the availability of materials, tools, and equipment required for production. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the supply chain team to avoid shortages or delays.
- Participate in or lead improvement projects using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
- Address conflicts or performance issues within the team professionally and in a timely manner. Foster a respectful and inclusive workplace culture.
- Take on other tasks, responsibilities, or special projects as assigned by management to support operational goals and organizational needs.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong understanding of production equipment, workflow, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient with production management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
