Overview

The Production Planner develops and executes build plans by balancing sales order priorities, material availability, production capacity, and cost considerations. This role works closely with Production leadership to maximize output and workforce efficiency across assigned product lines. Operating under moderate supervision, the position applies industry principles, concepts, and standards of production planning while ensuring alignment with customer delivery requirements and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales orders within planning lead times to confirm material availability and production feasibility.
  • Maintain and adjust sales order due dates to reflect material constraints and capacity limitations.
  • Collaborate with Sales Support to revise priorities and reschedule orders when needed.
  • Ensure customer delivery commitments are consistently met.
  • Partner with Operations Project Managers and Material Coordinators to manage engineering change implementations.
  • Actively participate in material allocation decisions, working closely with Sales and Integrated Business Planning (IBP).
  • Perform trend, driver, and issue analysis related to production planning and recommend corrective actions.
  • Represent planning on cross-functional project teams, providing insights and solutions.
  • Utilize planning tools to create tactical inventory and supply solutions.
  • Support Production Supervisors and Leads with root-cause analysis of production challenges.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant production planning experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • APICS Certification (CPIM/CSCP)
  • Experience with QAD or SAP ERP systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; intermediate proficiency in PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Team-oriented mindset with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of sales order management, production scheduling, inventory control, ERP/MRP systems, and procurement
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
