Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this role oversees a team of assembly workers, packing workers, and material handlers. The Production Supervisor is responsible for planning and supervising daily operations, driving productivity, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.

In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations, this role is accountable for improving production efficiency, ensuring safe practices, and supporting the review and development of JIGs and tools to enhance assembly processes. Working closely with production team members, the Production Supervisor directs workflow, ensures compliance, resolve issues in real time, and fosters a collaborative, high-performance environment. Ultimately, this position plays a key role in achieving production targets, meeting customer delivery commitments, and continuously improving overall manufacturing efficiency.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day operations on the manufacturing line to ensure safety, quality, and output targets are consistently met.
  • Oversee and confirm readiness and compliance on tools, equipment, and production areas, ensuring potential risks are proactively addressed to prevent incidents.
  • Assign tasks, monitor workflow, and direct operators in troubleshooting and resolving issues in real time to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Enforce safety, cleanroom, and GMP protocols in line with company policies and OSHA standards.
  • Escalate equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly and coordinate with the Production Manager and/or Facility & Safety Manager for resolution.
  • Track and report key performance metrics (output, downtime, defects); identify trends and implement improvements to enhance overall productivity.
  • Participate in the review and development of JIGs and tools to improve assembly processes, operator ergonomics, and production quality.
  • Train and coach new operators and conduct periodic refresher training on standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety practices.
  • Support facility upgrades, equipment installations, and process improvement initiatives in collaboration with the Facility & Safety Manager.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of shift activities, incidents, and production data.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, continuous improvement and teamwork on the production floor.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for production team members during assigned shift, ensuring clear communication and timely issue resolution.
  • Assign daily tasks based on production priorities and staffing levels, balancing workloads to maintain efficiency.
  • Monitor individual and team performance and provide coaching, mentoring, or corrective feedback as needed.
  • Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate changes in procedures or schedules, or safety requirements.
  • Ensure team adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to address performance issues or personnel concerns and opportunities for team development.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations by providing input on attendance, productivity, and conduct and adherence to safety practices.
  • Encourage team involvement in identifying process improvements, including suggestions for JIGs, tools, and workflow enhancements.

Required Qualification

  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment, including 2+ years in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety standards, and basic lean principles with proven ability to apply them in day-to-day operations.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom or controlled environment operations including adherence to ESD and PPE requirements.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple functions (Production, Quality, and Materials).
  • Ability to lead and motivate frontline staff in a high-tech, fast-paced setting driving accountability, safety awareness, and productivity improvements.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or electronics manufacturing preferably within a high-mix, low-volume environment.
  • Exposure to RF testing, burn-in chambers, or other specialized test environments with the ability to support troubleshooting and data interpretation.
  • Experience identifying issues in production/manufacturing processes and developing improvement strategies including collaboration with Engineering and Quality teams.
  • Experience in improving production efficiency through process optimization and procedure redefinition with demonstrated results in cycle time reduction or throughput improvement.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of assembly processes and tools including participation in JIG/tool design or enhancement for better ergonomics and assembly quality.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and process development through inspection and testing with familiarity in ISO 9001 or AS9100 environments.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification or EH&S training experience demonstrating strong commitment to workplace safety.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods on the production floor.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Comfortable wearing PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and cleanroom garments.
