Overview
bematrix USA is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our growing team of people committed to our mission of being the best system for easy and sustainable exhibit and event building.
The Operations Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient management of internal supply chain, from planning through production, to packaging and logistics. The Operations Manager will lead a team of supervisors, leads, and employees in developing and achieving KPI targets for each area, ensuring people are properly trained, monitoring upcoming business needs including facility and machine maintenance, and achieving results that support our customers’ needs. The Operations Manager will work closely with the VP of Operations to ensure day-to-day activities are well planned and well executed.
Base pay range
$65,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Hiring, training, motivating, supporting and providing guidance to operations staff
- Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep an organization accident-free
- Communicating regularly with appropriate stakeholders regarding problems or issues impacting operations
- Evaluating machines/tools to ensure continued production and minimal downtime
- Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations
- Establish productivity targets for each production team and regularly report on progress toward achieving these goals
- Assist in developing and maintaining reporting tools for shopfloor utilization, direct versus indirect labor hours, and budget versus actual hour tracking
- Developing workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality
- Ensuring adequate scheduling of staff to meet order timelines
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve production or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, materials and parts
- Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
- Train production personnel in new or existing methods
- Communicate manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
- Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of 5S objectives and Lean Daily Management systems
- Coordinate quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost
- Oversee warehouse production
- Inspect machines and equipment, review operating reports and resolve operational/maintenance issues
- Ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed
- Hands-on and focused on problem solving
- Ability to set-up simple and transparent processes
Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing leadership with responsibilities over Assembly, Logistics, and/or production planning
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience
- Experience, training, certifications, etc., in Lean / Six Sigma / 5S helpful
- International work experience preferred
- Basic understanding of the exhibition industry, with the ability to become a subject matter expert on the job
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines in a manufacturing environment
- Proven experience working with an ERP system (Microsoft Business Central preferred), MS Office Suite and ability to work in multiple computer systems and programs
- Ability to lift 15-25 lbs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong project management skills
- Proven record in training employees about safety and production
- Ability to coach and motivate employees
- This is an on-site position leading a team that is currently working one shift, M-F 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
