Overview
Production Supervisor role at Niagara Bottling. This position is responsible for supervising daily operations of the production floor to ensure safety, quality, and production goals are met in compliance with applicable legal and food safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct activities of the assigned shift, ensuring product safety, quality, and throughput.
- Maintain positive working relationships through open communication, visibility, and team involvement to maximize safety, engagement, productivity, and throughput.
- Analyze the production schedule prior to shift start and adjust team assignments to meet targets. Verify discrete jobs in Oracle (including quality and bill of materials), Warehouse Management System, and/or Line Management System.
- Coach and develop team members; handle employment decisions, conflict resolution, hiring, training, coaching, and performance reviews. Partner with Human Resources and Production Manager for recruitment and corrective actions.
- Inspect raw materials before changeovers to ensure correct inventories; perform first-pass quality checks after changeovers to prevent non-conforming product.
- Collaborate with Maintenance to resolve downtime on production lines.
- Complete shift reports for production numbers, downtime, attendance, overtime, and quality checks for submission to the Production Manager.
- Conduct shift walkthroughs to ensure safety, quality, and housekeeping compliance.
- Interface with multiple departments to meet customer deadlines; participate in interviews with hiring managers.
- Collaborate with plant leadership and shift team members to promote a world-class safety culture.
- Conduct weekly safety talks, daily safety/quality/production meetings, and hourly safety walks.
- Adhere to company and plant safety programs and GMP/food safety standards at all times; develop and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Suggest changes to working conditions and equipment use to increase shift efficiency.
- Monitor and review team members’ time and attendance; use Efficiency Improvement Tools to analyze downtime and communicate per escalation plans.
- Maintain regular, predictable attendance; ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule or as needed by production demand.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 years of field or similar manufacturing environment experience
- 4 years of experience in the role or similar position
- 4 years of experience managing people/projects
- Experience may include a combination of work experience and education
- Understanding of production processes and controls
