Astor Services Inc. is hiring: Building Custodian in Town of Cairo

The Building Custodian will be responsible for the upkeep and on-going maintenance of the building. The candidate must be competent in the area of environmental services.

Responsibilities:

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance.
• Must be able to work in all outdoor climate conditions.
• May be required to assist in any agency needs at any agency sites.
• Able to handle any and all custodial maintenance problems that arise.
• Must be able to operate both powered and non-powered tools and ground maintenance equipment.
• Must be able to climb step stools, ladders and negotiate confined spaces.
• Conduct preventative and emergency maintenance of HVAC systems in conjunction with third party vendor.
• Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, and emptying trash.
• Wipe mirrors, windows, flat surfaces, switches, door knobs, and handrails.
• Sanitize bathroom floors, sinks, toilets, and refill paper dispensers.
• Ensure proper sanitation of all eating surfaces, child desks and tables, kitchen counters, food heating and refrigeration equipment.
• Ensuring proper inventory of all janitorial and maintenance supplies.
• Maintain in good order all cleaning, maintenance, and utility storage areas.
• Under the direction of the Maintenance Coordinator, manage work orders via Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), appropriate chemical use and storage in school environments, and safe work practices.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED.
• Janitorial experience.
• Must be able to operate agency motor vehicles and possess a valid New York Stat operator's license with a driving history acceptable to the agency.
