Career Elevation and Technology Center

The Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC) is the Career and Technical Education (CTE) center for the St. Vrain School District and is one of eight CTE centers in the state of Colorado. CETC offers classes that provide real-world, hands-on experiences in pathways that are high-wage, high-growth, high-demand, and with a post-secondary trajectory. These pathways provide students with opportunities to acquire knowledge and skills linked with specific post-secondary programs leading to a two-year or four-year degree, and provide students industry certifications giving them a jump start in their careers.

Join our dynamic after-school project team as a Welder/Fabricator and be part of a creative and community-oriented initiative. As a key member of the team, you will collaborate with fellow students to design, fabricate, and deliver welded projects that benefit the local community. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in metalworking, teamwork, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with team members to brainstorm, plan, and design welded and fabricated projects that serve community needs, such as park benches, decorative sculptures, or functional structures.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Execute welding and fabrication tasks using various metalworking techniques, including MIG, Stick, CNC Plasma, Press brake, etc., to bring project designs to life.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while operating welding equipment and handling materials, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
  • Material Selection: Assist in the selection and procurement of appropriate materials for each project while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high standards of craftsmanship, ensuring the finished projects meet or exceed quality expectations.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of project progress, material usage, and any adjustments made during the fabrication process.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with community members and stakeholders to gather input, showcase project progress, and involve the community in the project's success.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance on equipment and promptly address any repairs or issues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an SVVSD high school
  • Knowledge of machining techniques and manufacturing processes
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Interest in community service and engagement.
