Job Summary
A Scientist I in Quality Control is responsible for an intermediate level of expertise in analytical chemistry, chromatographic methods of analysis, and instrumentation, including troubleshooting. The role involves directing and providing guidance to associate scientists.
Responsibilities
Principal Activities Performed by the Incumbent
- Articulate work-related issues clearly and effectively to management and peers.
- Perform accurate routine testing utilizing instrumental methods of analysis (HPLC, TLC, FTIR, pH, UV-Vis), with an emphasis on chromatography, to meet departmental objectives.
- Update and route SOPs, MOAs, and Specifications through Documentum as delegated by the supervisor.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation by applying problem-solving skills.
- Provide guidance to Associate Scientist personnel when necessary.
- Document testing in compliance with Good Documentation Practices.
- Manage work and time based on departmental priorities using own judgment and objective reasoning.
- Perform peer review of data to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Requirements
- Possess a B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, or related physical science. Typically, 1-4 years of related experience in the pharmaceutical industry and familiarity with cGMP and FDA regulations.
- Have hands-on experience and knowledge of chromatographic methods and related chromatography data systems (e.g., Empower). Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Flexible with changing projects and priorities.
