Responsibilities

  • Supervise all machine shop employees (Machine Operatives and Deburr) in the manufacturing department; maintain a safe, hazard-free work environment; plan and assign work; enforce policies and procedures; maintain product quality standards; recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions
  • Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; set processing variables; observe control points and equipment; monitor personnel and resources; study methods; implement cost reductions; develop reporting procedures and systems; facilitate corrections to malfunctions within process control points; foster cooperation between departments
  • Complete production plans by working with the Supply Chain planner; schedule and assign personnel; establish priorities and monitor progress; revise schedules and priorities as needed; resolve production, staffing, and resource problems
  • Maintain quality service by enforcing established organization standards
  • Ensure operation of equipment by calling for repairs; evaluate new equipment and techniques
  • Provide manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, and report results to management
  • Create and revise systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implement change when necessary
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; enforce compliance with safety policies, procedures, and standards
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; benchmark state-of-the-art practices
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Experience: 3-5 years in CNC machining and setup preferred
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in a CNC machining production environment - a plus
  • Lean manufacturing preferred

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and MAS 500 (or other MRP/ERP system)
  • Above-average aptitude and ability to interpret spreadsheets

Communication Skills

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Must be able to communicate with both management and non-management associates.
