Job Description
The Maintenance Technician will troubleshoot, repair, install, adjust, and maintain processing and packaging machinery, devices, moving parts, and equipment, including but not limited to electrical, heating, plumbing, refrigeration, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Inspect equipment, structures, parts, or materials to identify breakage, excessive wear, or defects. Determine necessary adjustments or repairs to operate equipment safely and complete needed repairs.
- Diagnose machine malfunctions through observation and testing. Analyze test results, machine error messages, and operator feedback to determine solutions.
- Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial processing and packaging machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, technical drawings, work orders, processing charts, and manuals for correct installation and operation.
- Adjust or align mechanical controls, components, machine setups, and clearances.
- Position, align, or level machines, equipment, or structures.
- Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
- Disassemble machinery to remove parts and perform repairs.
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components.
- Fabricate parts by cutting, welding, or soldering metals, and bending tubing or conduit.
- Assist vendors and Engineering with new equipment implementation or retooling projects.
- Partner with operators to identify problems and demonstrate equipment functions.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance or equivalent education.
- At least 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing or related plant.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to interact across all levels.
- Knowledge of OSHA Codes, GMPs, sanitary design, and environmental regulations.
- Experience with CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems).
- Proficient in general computer skills.
