Job Summary
The Fitness Trainer is responsible for creating a safe, effective, and engaging fitness environment for club members and guests. The role includes supervising exercise programs, educating members on proper techniques, and developing personalized fitness plans tailored to individual goals and needs. The Fitness Trainer also promotes the club’s services and facilities and contributes to a positive experience. By delivering the 3-steps of service—Warm Welcomes, Magic Moments, and Fond Farewells—you help maintain a supportive and motivating atmosphere for members and guests.
Reporting Structure
- Reports to the Fitness Manager or Fitness Director
Responsibilities
- Assist in the exercise and fitness areas of the club, supporting members and guests with their exercise and fitness programs.
- Evaluate member/guest fitness needs and provide appropriate exercise programs, including personal instruction if necessary.
- Conduct New Member Fit Start appointments and track progress. Connect with members regularly and promote fitness activities and services.
- Update fitness activities and programming on the web page and/or member communication board, as applicable.
- Promote facility amenities, programs and the club while maintaining professionalism and service aligned with the club’s values and standards.
- Maintain current fitness-related certifications including CPR/AED and pursue additional education opportunities offered through Invited partnerships.
- Ensure daily assignments are completed in designated areas to uphold Club standards and maintain organized workspaces; manage equipment and materials.
- Handle daily processing of personal training and/or group session accounting procedures.
- Submit monthly forecasts for expected sessions, Fit Starts and New Client goals.
- Maintain an up-to-date schedule of availability for accuracy.

- Seek personal and professional growth and maintain required certifications relevant to your role.
- Address and resolve challenges using available resources; collaborate with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
- Attend daily briefings and participate in required activities to stay informed and contribute to the team’s success.
- Evaluate Member/Guest fitness needs and provide appropriate exercise programs, including personal instruction.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Fitness Trainer, with proficiency in developing and leading personalized fitness programs.
- Current personal training certifications: ACSM, NASM, ACE, PTA Global, NFPT, ISSA, CSCS or NSCA.
- Certification in CPR, First Aid and AED within the last 6 months and certification as a group exercise instructor with AFAA or ACE.
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree in health, fitness, exercise science, or a related field.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to educate and motivate clients.
- Ability to assess individual fitness levels and develop tailored exercise programs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
- Occasional exposure to temperature changes, dust, fumes, or gases.
- Squatting, kneeling, reaching, grasping, twisting, and bending.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs. on occasion.
- Speaking, hearing, and vision necessary for job duties.

- Adherence to attendance requirements as outlined in the weekly schedule.
