Job Summary: Protects the organization's employees, properties, and all items of value on premises from any preventable harm or danger. Develops security policies and procedures that comply with government guidelines and standards. Conducts investigations to protect organization assets. Responds to contingency events, including bomb threats, sabotage, and severe weather conditions through on-site security force or with the assistance of government law enforcement agencies.
Responsibilities
- Supervises the daily activities of support staff or production team members.
- Must have any type of one direct report or more.
- Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors.
- Problem-solving is guided by policies and procedures; receives guidance and oversight from manager.
- Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment.
Essential Functions
- Supervises a team of security officers and guards that ensure the physical safety of all visitors, employees, or customers to the organization's facilities and the security of property and assets.
- Oversees and conducts regular audits and inspections of buildings and grounds to ensure protection from intruders, fire hazards, theft, and vandalism.
- Follows and enforces protocols for the monitoring of systems and alarms, and procedures for response to issues.
- Ensures that all security events are logged, documented, and reported using standard procedures.
- Trains staff and establishes plans for crisis response, disaster recovery, evacuation, workplace violence, and other emergency events.
- Participates in education programs and communications on security policies and topics to ensure staff is adequately informed and equipped to manage potential security issues.
- Keeps abreast with all local, state, provincial, or federal security-related information, directives, and events.
- Assists with investigations and critical event responses in coordination with law enforcement and other officials or agencies.
- Understands law enforcement methods, tactics, and procedures.
- Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & General Managers.
Required Qualifications
- Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience.
- Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
- This position is Safety-Sensitive.
