Overview

The City of La Crosse is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker to be an essential member of the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department. The department operates and maintains a large park system with numerous facilities and trails, and focuses on improving the lives of La Crosse residents daily. The Maintenance Worker operates a variety of assigned maintenance equipment for park maintenance and performs manual labor as part of a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Operate maintenance equipment such as trucks, tractors, chippers, chain saws, trimmers, mowers, and hand and power tools.
• Operate a pick-up plow for snow removal and assist with excavating work sites, concrete construction projects, and tree removal.
• Fuel and clean equipment and vehicles; support general grounds maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience providing the same knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• One to two years of light equipment operating experience or equivalent experience as determined by education/experience.
• Valid driver’s license required.
