About the Job

We’re looking for an experienced Manager of HR Operations to join our People Team as a player-coach and in-house expert on HR Operations and Benefits. This role reports to the Vice President of HR and blends strategic ownership with hands-on execution. You will oversee benefits, HRIS, policy creation and maintenance, and the application of our compensation philosophy and pay bands. You will lead one direct report and collaborate with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, the Chief Communications Officer/Chief of Staff, Legal and Finance to maintain Bombas’ internal HR infrastructure in a compliant, competitive and values-aligned way.

What you’ll be responsible for

Benefits Administration & Strategy

  • Own administrative and strategic aspects of the company’s benefits program (health & welfare, 401(k), wellness initiatives, leave policies), partnering with the HRIS + HR services provider.
  • Lead annual benefits renewal and open enrollment process, from vendor partnership to employee communication and system configuration.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex benefits inquiries.
  • Evaluate offerings for competitiveness and cultural alignment.
  • Partner with brokers and providers to optimize plans and resolve escalated issues.

HRIS & Operations Management

  • Serve as primary system administrator for the HRIS (Rippling), ensuring data accuracy, security, and robust reporting/analytics.
  • Optimize HR systems and integrate modules (e.g., performance management) into Rippling.
  • Drive process improvements across People Operations; document, automate and enhance efficiency.
  • Manage vendor relationships with benefits brokers and the HRIS provider.
  • Train managers and employees on effective system use.
  • Partner with Finance and Payroll for accurate, seamless processing.

Policy Creation & Compliance

  • Develop and maintain HR policies in partnership with Legal; ensure clear communication and consistent application.
  • Advise HRBPs and Legal on compliance; monitor changes in employment laws and update policies accordingly.
  • Manage compliance for all employee types and oversee leave and unemployment processes.
  • Provide guidance on policy interpretation and application.

Compensation Philosophy & Pay Bands

  • Oversee external compensation benchmarking to ensure competitive and equitable pay.
  • Maintain and apply the compensation framework and pay bands for hiring, career advancement and related communications.
  • Collaborate with HRBPs and managers on competencies and related processes.

Leadership, Development & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Project manage cross-functional HR initiatives.
  • Lead and develop the People Operations Associate, fostering growth and operational excellence.
  • Model strong communication and collaboration; align with Head of TA, HRBPs, Legal and Finance on people processes.
  • Deliver data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership.

What you’ll bring

  • 4-6+ years of HR experience with deep expertise in HR Operations, benefits administration, HRIS, policy, and compensation.
  • 1-2+ years of leadership experience; comfortable balancing management with hands-on work.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS (Rippling preferred); experience with migrations/implementations is desirable.

Bombas is committed to delivering competitive and equitable pay for our employees. The pay range for this position at the start of employment is between $95,000 and $108,000/year, with actual base pay dependent on factors such as knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions. The total rewards package may include annual bonus, equity, and benefits. Details provided with offer. The position is at-will and Bombas reserves the right to modify compensation and benefits.
