LHH is seeking a Production Manager for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a machining manufacturing client located in Indianapolis, IN. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established yet still growing organization that produces incredibly precise machined components. In this role, you will manage a small production team and oversee all CNC machining and manufacturing activities within your facility. Compensation is commensurate with experience and ranges between $100,000–$115,000 per year plus bonus and includes incredibly affordable medical insurance options, generous Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage all CNC machining and production personnel, ensuring machinists and CNC operators remain focused on tasks and properly prioritize customer orders.
- Oversee daily production activities, with a strong emphasis on CNC machining operations (mills and lathes), and ensure all work meets stringent quality standards.
- Serve as a technical resource for machinists—answering questions, supporting setups, and troubleshooting technical issues on the floor.
- Conduct root cause analysis to resolve process-related stoppages, prevent production delays, and eliminate recurrence of non-conformance issues.
- Lead initiatives to reduce downtime, eliminate scrap/waste, and drive continuous improvement on the shop floor.
- Evaluate and implement strategies to improve organization, efficiency, and throughput in CNC machining operations.
- Plan, monitor, and evaluate employee performance; provide coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and handle hiring/firing as needed.
- Collaborate with the management team to assess and determine staffing needs, especially as they relate to skilled machinists and CNC programmers.
- Manage change, inventory control, and ensure proper distribution of inventory for any discontinued, damaged, or obsolete items.
- Communicate daily movement of materials from production to distribution areas, maintaining clear updates with customers and suppliers.
- Remain in compliance with Quality Assurance and Safety standards at all times.
- Stay abreast of industry trends.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have 5+ years of experience with CNC machining (ideally having firsthand experience operating and/or programming CNC machines, mills, and/or lathes) and have the pre-requisite knowledge to answer technical questions and support/coach a team of CNC professionals on how to achieve very tight tolerances
- Minimum of 8 years of experience within a manufacturing environment is required
- Minimum of 5 years of Production Management experience overseeing a production team within a manufacturing environment is required
- Ideal candidates will possess a Six Sigma Belt and/or Lean Manufacturing experience
- Must have experience with production scheduling and understand how materials flow efficiently through a manufacturing facility
- Must have knowledge of quality standards and health & safety practices and regulations
- Must be a natural problem-solver who possesses excellent communication skills
- Must have intermediate or advanced skills using Excel
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
