Base pay range

$11.75/hr - $12.25/hr

Responsibilities

The primary purpose of the Production Operator is to rotate through various positions within the plant to facilitate receiving, sorting, washing, drying, ironing and loading of linens to be delivered to hospitals and medical facilities. You will learn to operate various production equipment as needed for daily assignments. Equipment must be operated to meet customer expectations daily in the safest possible manner. All Production Operation employees may be required to perform other duties as assigned and must adhere to quality and safety standards. Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation.

High School Education or GED preferred. Excellent teamwork skills are required. Employees must be willing to move between all jobs via rotation when needed.

Soil Operations

The primary purpose of this position is to safely sort returned soiled linen into appropriate classifications in preparation for washing, and to prepare carts for the Clean Production side of the plant.

  • Open customer returned soil bags (bags weigh approximately 45 lbs.), discard plastic bag, and pre-sort as required. Production standard: 45 bags or 2000 lbs opened per hour for each operator.
  • Operators float between positions on the work platform, sorting into appropriate bins as a team to ensure safe, quick, and accurate sorting.
  • Move empty carts to the appropriate area for cleaning and reuse.
  • Cart cleaners ensure carts are cleaned, sterilized, dried, and lined for use in loading clean linens onto trucks.

Clean Operations

Clean Linen Operations duties and essential functions are learned and require rotation as needed. Roles may include:

  • Catcher: secure linen carts, stack and build carts to standard, remove linens from the Folder machine, count and stack per standards, and push full baskets to the next area. If items jam, contact maintenance; only maintenance or production managers can pull jams. Maintain quality decisions on finishing and placement of items.
  • Hand Folder: remove product from previous process, fold items, stack, and load onto carts or belts. Identify items with holes or stains that require rewash or removal from Crown Health Care Laundry Services linen.
  • Ironer: run clean linen through the ironer (feeder, ironer, folder). Feed linens safely and monitor quality. If a machine jams, contact maintenance as needed.

Shipping Clerk

The Shipping Clerk fills finished carts of clean, processed linen, prepares them for shipment, and ensures they are loaded onto delivery trucks. Responsibilities include maintaining order records, attaching order forms to carts, weighing carts, and entering information into the shipping software. Basic computer knowledge is required and willingness to learn new applications. Good recordkeeping and analytical skills are required.

  • Secure records of orders and attach order forms to carts.
  • Track which orders have been filled and which are still in process.
  • Weigh carts on floor scales and record weights in software; move carts to shipping as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

Standard requirements include:

  • High School Education or GED preferred.
  • Excellent teamwork and willingness to rotate between positions as needed.
  • Basic computer knowledge and willingness to learn shipping software.
  • Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
