Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: The Production Manager for MCG - Performance Polymers Division will direct and coordinate the activities of the plant in processing materials and manufacturing products in the facility as well as shipping and receiving by performing the following duties personally or through shift supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Plan production operations along with Plant Supervisor, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepare manpower schedules for production and vacation scheduling, break schedules, and overtime coverage.
  • Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, coordinating training with supervisors, planning, assigning and directing work, maintaining safety, quality, productivity and delivery, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints.
  • Participate in plant audits and leadership activities.
  • Train and mentor Shift Supervisors on responsibilities and identify external or internal training requirements as needed.
  • Review production and OEE reporting and resolve operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum downtime and costs. Note: Production Manager, Production Supervisor and Quality Manager are part of the team to resolve all OEE concerns.
  • Prevent operational delays and improve KPIs.
  • Develop or revise standard operating processes and procedures and ensure all are in compliance with standards.
  • Prepare and lead monthly shift/communication meetings for all shifts (Safety, Quality and Productivity).
  • Establish and update training matrices for production operators.
  • Maintain plant organization and cleanliness (6S).
  • Coordinate all safety requirements with operations (Safety KPIs).
  • Coordinate with Plant Supervisor, R&D Manager and Quality Manager on MOC process and on RCA concerning operations.
  • Coordinate engineering projects with Operation Improvement / Engineering Manager and Director of Operations (Capex).
  • Report daily activities during the weekly meeting with the Director of Operations; safety or quality issues should be reported immediately.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS)
  • 5+ years of previous supervisory experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience in compounding/blending operations
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to hold direct reports accountable to their objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while remaining focused on goals
  • Ability to guide a team in issue resolution
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Basic knowledge of Office suite software
  • Strong safety acumen
  • Flexibility to cover all shifts and time off as needed
  • Ability to cope with moving from controlled atmosphere to plant ambient conditions several times a day

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $103,400 - 129,300. Factors such as scope and responsibilities, work experience, education/training, skills, internal equity, market and business considerations may influence base pay. May be geographically adjusted if authorized to work outside the listed location.
