Base pay range

$17.00/hr - $17.00/hr

Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers on five continents. Our products can be used in a wide variety of industries, such as the automotive and office chair manufacturing industries, furniture technology, solar industry, medical technology, and many other industrial applications. This position will be located in our U.S. Headquarters in Gastonia, NC.

This will be a 3rd Shift position. The shift runs from 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. Sunday - Thursday. Applicants should have some flexibility to accommodate overtime and changes in the schedule based on company needs. This could include working on weekends.

Job Summary

The Stabilus pack cell operator performs the final step in the production process, which requires great attention to detail to provide our Automotive and Industrial customers the Top-Level Quality of goods they have been committed.

Associate performs several functions in Final Assembly department, resulting in the packaging and palletizing of Stabilus finished products in accordance with both Stabilus and Customer requirements.

Main Tasks

  • Applicant must be able to read company blueprints and confirm correct part characteristics are met, such as diameter, overall length, correct attached components, end fitting orientation, print color and others
  • General computer knowledge is required, with ability to work amongst multiple programs simultaneously
  • Packing is performed using weigh scales and connected computers using an internal packing program
  • Inspects all parts for paint, print and overall quality appearance, with disposition of non-conforming parts
  • Assembly of brackets and clips may be required, depending on customer agreements
  • Identifies and touches up paint nicks, when applicable
  • May operate electric or manual pallet jack to aid in product movement from workstation
  • Associate must comply with 7S directives to keep work area in proper condition
  • Maintains the daily cleaning protocol prior to shift end
  • Plant safety rules must be clearly understood and followed, always including PPE compliance
  • Flexibility to perform all packing roles in Final Assembly will be required, as assigned by Leads and Supervisor

Secondary Tasks

  • Any additional task assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Engineer or Department Manager

Education, Training, Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably quality, warehouse or production assembly.
  • Work experience of two months will provide needed time to become proficient in this job role.

  • Associate must become familiar with the entire product line, along with all related components parts
  • Must clearly understand company quality standards and be skilled in the use of related test equipment
  • Applicant must be competent in the use of basic hand tools

Language Skills

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic mathematical skills are required.

Interaction with Team Members

  • Must be able to communicate and operate effectively with all levels of associates, including management.
  • Applicant must be able to work well in a team environment, with willingness to support team goals.

  • Performs operations in compliance with set company policy and procedures

Accountability / Impact of Errors

  • Performs part packing operations where quality standards are understood and followed.
  • The removal of inferior quality parts is required, with the corresponding actions of disposition.
  • Packing operation has opportunity to detect but also has opportunity to miss certain quality problems, which could result in customer rejection and subsequent quality investigations.

Working Conditions

  • Light physical effort required for repeated lifting and material movement up to 50lbs
  • Job function requires standing, frequent reaching and occasional bending
  • Candidate must be able to accurately identify colors to validate print quality requirements
