Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating power industrial trucks for moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting merchandise. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle and may also be required to perform Order Filler and Checker duties in addition to their own. They are responsible for accurate storing, shipping and receiving of product to meet safety, security and productivity standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receiving/Put-Away: Unload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locations. Input data accurately into WMS. Efficiently stack and store product in appropriate area. Maintain an organized work area.
  • Order Picking: Pull and prepare for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product are loaded and shipped. Perform picking duties efficiently to meet customer service standards. Prepare freight for operations accurately and timely as required.
  • Quality: Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances.
  • Delivery: Move product from staging/storage to production lines and/or staging docks. Ensure proper documentation accompanies freight.
  • Inventory: Keep records and reports to maintain tight inventory control and security. Assist in physical inventories. Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance: Maintain a clean, neat, orderly work area and assist in warehouse security. Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures and site policies. Load/unload/move/stack/stage product using forklift or other power equipment. Maintain equipment in a neat, clean, orderly fashion. Perform daily inspections and minor maintenance on equipment. Maintain active forklift certification.
  • Maintenance: Perform or assist in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance as assigned.
  • Other Duties (Site Specific): Change fuel tanks, participate in physical inventories, label/sort/package as needed; repair pallets, trailers, and truck bays; support a clean, safe facility; perform other duties as required; work overtime as dictated by business needs.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; 6 months experience in a logistics/distribution environment; ability to operate MHE.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations: Forklift training program completion.
  • Other: Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse; ability to operate MHE.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills, RF Scanners, WMS functions
  • Language: English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic to intermediate level for quantities, inventory counts
  • Other: Strong attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, adaptability to a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience in warehouse/logistics
  • 1-2 years forklift experience
  • Current or prior MHE certification

Ability to Lift/Carry and Push/Pull: 21-50 pounds

Work Environment

Typically a warehouse setting with low to moderate noise; may involve exposure to fumes or airborne particles occasionally.
