Overview

Mechanical Superintendent, Mission Critical role at JE Dunn Construction. Role focuses on planning, managing and executing assigned projects with some complexity, including management of material and equipment, people, documentation, and achieving project goals for timely and profitable completion. Key Responsibilities

Leads safety culture and ensures an injury-free environment; investigates safety incidents and retrains staff as needed. Manages subcontractors and organizes overall job workflow; oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs (Safety, Quality, EEO) for small to large projects. Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work; coordinates site care, custody and control. Leads meetings (daily standups, weekly trade meetings) and participates in appropriate progress and project OAC meetings. Creates and manages the project schedule with the Project Manager; tracks budget and costs using project management systems. Communicates key project information to owners, design teams, authorities, subcontractors and other departments. Follows project filing and documentation systems; updates drawings, logs, diaries and inspection notebooks; prepares daily and weekly reports. Manages material and equipment needs; supports MOC and DLSC procurement processes; assists in selecting formwork, tools and equipment for self-perform work. Manages timecard approvals, ensures accurate hours and cost codes; ensures quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC and external resources. Supports project closeouts through pre-punch activities and coordination with owner, architect and authorities. Supports project pursuits; plans pre-project strategies; establishes field staffing; partners with management to identify schedule and cost changes; participates in owner/architect negotiations for changes. Participates in project reviews, buy-out meetings, and contract terms understanding; identifies and recruits top talent; promotes diversity and inclusion. Additional Core Responsibilities

Manages fairly complex stand-alone projects from start to finish. Responsible for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on projects or portions thereof; identifies project risks and recommends solutions. Manages deliverables from internal resources (e.g., IPS, logistics) and participates in project pursuits. Negotiates with owners/architects for project changes. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Accurate, timely work; strong verbal and written communication (intermediate). Effective presentations (intermediate); MS Office (intermediate); construction management fundamentals; project processes knowledge. Ability to build relationships, manage budgets, and leverage scheduling, Lean practices, and self-perform knowledge. Knowledge of layout, crane flagging and rigging; understanding document changes and impacts on project schedule; team collaboration. Education

High School Diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field (Preferred). Experience

5+ years construction experience; 3+ years field supervision; Lean principles experience (Preferred). Working Environment

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license; ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Travel and relocation may be required; exposure to extreme conditions; non-traditional hours may be needed.
