Senior Electrical Engineer applying specialized expertise in electrical design, construction, and project management for Metra’s fixed assets and related systems. Reports to the Director, Civil Engineering. Provides technical guidance on repair and maintenance of equipment and trains less experienced staff on division operations. Responsibilities

Manage consultants, including developing and maintaining project schedules, leading planning and progress meetings, monitoring and approving tasks, visiting job sites to inspect work in progress for compliance with contract specifications and quality standards, and resolving technical issues. Prepare design packages including drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical calculations for power distribution projects, electrical equipment purchases, and lighting systems, ensuring compliance with federal and local codes, NFPA, and industry standards. Prepare contract documents to solicit projects for bid; participate in pre-bid meetings; respond to scope, specification, and technical questions; review vendor bid proposals for compliance, feasibility, efficiency, and cost effectiveness; and recommend contract awards. Perform contract administration duties including reviewing invoices for contract compliance, evaluating change orders and contract modifications for cost effectiveness, and approving or resolving payment discrepancies. Manage contract files according to Metra quality management plan, maintain accurate records of project correspondence, and prepare detailed project status reports. Coordinate day-to-day team activities, assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance and training, without supervision responsibility. Promote safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment; operate under varied environmental conditions (inside and outside) including heat, cold, rain, and snow. Perform other related duties as assigned to meet organizational needs. Qualifications

Extensive experience in electrical design, construction, and project management within a rail or related infrastructure environment. Strong ability to lead planning, scheduling, and technical reviews; proficient in preparing design packages, contract documents, and cost estimates. Experience with contract administration, change orders, and vendor bid evaluation. Ability to train staff and provide technical guidance; strong communication and teamwork skills. Eligible to work in the United States; minimum 8 years of relevant experience preferred. About Metra
