As a Sr Avionics Test Engineer, you will be part of the avionics engineering team responsible for designing, selecting, verifying, integrating, and certifying avionics and electrical components and systems to automate unmanned aircraft under stringent civil aviation standards. The role focuses on verifying development and flight hardware that supports the mission to automate aircraft (e.g., computers, remote data concentrators, and aircraft electrical systems).
Responsibilities
Develop and deploy automated test solutions for complex avionics hardware from early prototype designs through formal equipment qualification campaigns. Design test benches and procedures to execute tests for applications ranging from circuit debugging to system-level verification. Coordinate with vendors, equipment, and engineers across multiple disciplines to facilitate successful verification campaigns. Track hardware issues, drive root-cause and corrective action campaigns, and drive continuous improvement of our electrical test infrastructure.
Qualifications
Basic Success Criteria
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience 8+ years of full-cycle electronics hardware test or development experience in a professional environment Extensive experience with test equipment, measurement techniques, and processes for hardware verification Familiarity with programming/scripting languages (C, C++, Python) Ability to methodically diagnose, document, and solve electronic hardware problems Preferred Success Criteria
Advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering Familiarity with formal industry test standards such as RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-461/810, or similar Experience developing and simulating complex and manufacturable printed circuit board assemblies using tools such as Altium Designer and SPICE Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work both independently and as a leader of a high-performing team
Location, Travel and Compensation
This role is on-site in Mountain View, CA. Must be willing to travel 30% of the time. Estimated salary range: $162,000 to $220,000. Reliable Robotics offers stock options, medical, 401k contribution, and a casual work environment. Compensation is based on experience, expertise, market conditions, location, and pay equity.
