This onsite role is based in Mountain View, CA. Overview We are looking for a hands-on, multi-faceted Senior to Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Powertrain and Propulsion R&D team that evaluates and tests novel powertrain technologies for Wisk aircrafts. Responsibilities Design, build, and test mechanical and electromechanical components and structures Apply classical methods for the analysis of flight-worthy structures Create, run, and post-process basic stress and thermal analysis simulations Create and release 2D mechanical design drawings Perform analysis using first principles techniques to validate mechanical and thermal aspects of the design Make design considerations for mass optimization, structural integrity, thermal considerations, and risk mitigation Manage and track CGs and weights for components installed on an aircraft Requirements BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering 8+ years of relevant work experience in Mechanical Engineering 2+ years of testing experience Advanced understanding of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, structural mechanics, etc.) Familiarity with CAD software such as Siemens NX (preferred), SolidWorks, etc. Familiarity with MATLAB or Python for data regression Familiarity with drafting standards, including GD&T, and ability to interpret or create engineering drawings Compensation and Benefits Pay range the company expects to pay: $158,248 - $186,174 per year. The starting base salary within this range varies based on location and relevant experience.
