Position Profile
Weaver is looking for a Motor Fuels Tax Senior Manager to join our growing team. Motor Fuel Tax Senior Managers have in-depth, first-hand experience in a wide range of industries. They lead motor fuel tax planning and controversy projects, including audits, appeals, and litigation proceedings. Their primary responsibilities include overseeing the planning and management of multiple client engagements, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and staying abreast of emerging tax issues and legislation.
A Weaver Tax Senior Manager works closely with firm leadership and plays a key role in business development and team development. The ideal candidate has 10+ years’ experience with the technical knowledge sufficient to supervise staff and managers in a wide variety of industries.
To be successful in this role, the following qualifications are required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
CPA, EA, or licensed attorney
10+ years of experience in federal and state fuel taxes
Experience with federal and multi-state excise tax returns
Experience with a variety of industries and all aspects of federal and state fuel and excise tax laws
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
Extensive tax experience in both public accounting and industry
Proven ability to manage, mentor and develop staff
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Demonstration of independent thinking and strong decision-making skills
Team orientation and strong interpersonal skills
Strong relationship management and practice development skills
Ability to attract and service new clients and expand services to existing clients
