$115,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Gold Mechanical The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for the financial health and strategic direction of the company. This role oversees financial operations, risk management, compliance, and long-term financial planning, and plays a crucial role in guiding company growth, capital structure, and operational efficiency. This position is designed as a strategic, transitional leadership role. We are seeking a CFO committed to a 5-year timeline to help prepare and mentor our current Controller to take on the CFO position in the future.

This includes sharing institutional knowledge, building strong financial systems, and providing development support to ensure a seamless transition. Leadership & Succession Planning Collaborate with and mentor the current Controller, providing leadership development and strategic insight. Assist in building a scalable finance department structure that supports long-term growth and continuity. Actively participate in a 5-year transition plan, with the goal of gradually transferring responsibilities and knowledge to the next financial leader within the organization. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership & Financial Planning Develop and execute financial strategies that support both short-term performance and long-term business goals. Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and multi-year financial planning processes. Align financial strategy with construction project cycles, including billing, collections, and job closeout. Capital Structure & Banking Relationships Manage capital structure and maintain strong relationships with banking partners, bonding agents, and insurance providers. Oversee credit lines, bonding capacity, and financial risk mitigation strategies. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management Maintain rigorous cash flow forecasting and working capital oversight to align with project schedules and payment cycles. Monitor job costing, WIP (Work in Progress) reports, and profitability across divisions and projects. ESOP Oversight Partner with external advisors to support ESOP administration, including annual valuations, repurchase obligation forecasting, and employee education related to ownership and benefits. Technology & Systems Leadership Lead the continuous improvement of financial systems, including ERP platforms and business intelligence tools. Ensure systems are aligned with organizational needs, enabling data-driven decision-making and scalable operations. Ensure full compliance with GAAP, tax laws, insurance requirements, bonding standards, and regulatory obligations. Proactively assess and manage financial risks across operations, contracts, and investments. Accounting & Reporting Oversee all accounting functions including payroll, A/P, A/R, general ledger, and project financials. Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and support external audits and tax filings. Provide mentorship and leadership development for the current Controller, with defined milestones toward succession readiness. Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture. Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required) CPA or MBA preferred Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in the construction or mechanical contracting industry Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition Experience with ERP or construction management software (e.g., Sage Intaact, etc.) Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills High level of integrity, accuracy, and dependability Familiarity with ESOP structures.
