Job Summary
The Director of Catering is responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering and event operations, including planning, execution, client relations, and staff management. This role ensures high-quality service for university events through strong leadership, detailed coordination across departments, and a focus on excellence in food and presentation. The role is primarily Monday through Friday but requires flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
Manages all internal and external catering events from concept to execution Oversees a team of catering and banquet staff; responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and staff development in service standards and menu presentation Builds and maintains strong client relationships while ensuring the delivery of high-quality catering services Develops and implements marketing plans and event service strategies to support revenue growth Leads detailed menu planning and selection, pricing contracts, and sourcing temporary labor and equipment as needed Controls labor and food costs, and ensures smooth execution of event setup, operation, and cleanup Supervises food preparation and service standards to ensure quality and consistency across all events
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality or Culinary Arts Minimum 5 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including at least 2 years in management (preferably in Catering Management) Strong experience in menu planning, event costing, and contract pricing Demonstrated ability to lead a team, execute large-scale events, and maintain operational excellence
