Overview
Prepared Foods Department Supervisor (Culinary, Deli) - Full Time. Base pay range: $19.50/hr - $30.20/hr. This position assists with the scheduling and supervision of Team Members as well as the day-to-day flow of the department. Oversees and maintains compelling Prepared Foods, coffee, and juice displays. Supports the Prepared Foods Team Leader and Associate Team Leader(s) to ensure smooth operation of the Prepared Foods Team. All Whole Foods Market Retail jobs require courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and Team Members at all times, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and health and safety regulations. Responsibilities
Supervise and delegate tasks to Prepared Foods Team Members. Work with the Prepared Foods Trainer to train Team Members and build a high-performance team. Assist in training new Team Members using learning checklists and training materials. Keep cases and shelves clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated. Open and close the department according to established procedures. Ensure all necessary breaks are provided. Communicate team concerns to the Team Leader and Associate Team Leader. Achieve high standards of retail execution and customer service. Foster a positive environment with teamwork, mutual respect, and morale. Monitor customer flows and direct Team Members to meet customer needs and questions. Select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members to maintain a high-performance team and minimize turnover. Provide timely, thorough performance evaluations. Model and communicate WFM vision and goals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Extensive knowledge of Prepared Foods team procedures and policies. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team-building, and customer relationship skills. Ability to teach others in a positive and constructive manner. Product knowledge; advanced knowledge of regulatory and safety policies and procedures. Proficient mathematical skills for assessing financial performance, monitoring profitability, and managing inventory. Demonstrated decision-making, leadership, prioritization, and delegation abilities. Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office, and operations-related applications. Desired Work Experiences
12+ months retail experience. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour work day. Hand use includes grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling. Bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching required. Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals. Exposure to temperatures from below freezing to hot environments; ability to work in wet and dry conditions. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to use tools and equipment including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other machinery; may require ladders. Notes
