Overview
The Warehouse General Manager at the distribution warehouse will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of a wide range of products. This role is pivotal in maintaining a high level of productivity, accuracy, and safety within the warehouse. The General Manager will lead and develop a team, implement operational policies, and work closely with other departments to ensure seamless operations.
Responsibilities
Manage daily warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory management, order picking, and shipping.
Ensure efficient utilization of warehouse space and optimize the layout for maximum productivity.
Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, inventory levels, and on-time shipping.
Team Leadership
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of warehouse staff, including supervisors, clerks, and associates.
Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement training programs to enhance team skills and efficiency.
Foster a positive and collaborative working environment.
Inventory Management
Oversee inventory control processes to ensure accurate stock levels and reduce discrepancies.
Implement and maintain effective inventory tracking systems.
Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts.
Safety and Compliance
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
Process Improvement
Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Use data analysis to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations.
Vendor and Customer Relations
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and customers.
Resolve operational issues promptly and effectively.
Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient and accurate order fulfillment.
Technology and Systems Management
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant technologies.
Ensure staff are adequately trained in all systems and technologies used in the warehouse.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
High volume returns, multi-facility oversite, and Customer facing.
Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar role in a distribution warehouse setting.
Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant technologies.
Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse environment.
Bilingual (Spanish/English is a plus)
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Comfortable working in varying temperatures and conditions within the warehouse.
