Overview
The Senior Strategic Implementation Manager resides within the University Strategy Office which was established this year to partner with the University Cabinet to help support the alignment of the KU Lawrence and KUMC campuses. The "One KU" initiative strives to better align our campuses and positions us to work more collaboratively in pursuing our mission of education, service and research. The Senior Strategic Implementation Manager supports the high-level management of the initiatives by providing stakeholders structure and organization to ensure forward progress, transparency to the campus communities, and to ultimately help create a more effective, efficient and engaged organization. Job Description
Project Management of "One KU" initiatives (60%) Help develop and implement processes that support project execution for advancing One KU initiatives. Manage large-scale projects by coordinating cross-functional teams and breaking the project into manageable phases for stakeholders to lead and track project execution. Provide regular project status updates and communicate progress, risks, and issues to relevant stakeholders. Facilitate communication among stakeholders and project team members. Create and maintain documentation for projects and processes. Provide oversight for organizational realignments and integrations, ensuring effective change management and execution. Build relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication. Support Strategic Planning (20%) Support the Associate Vice Chancellor of Strategic Implementation in the management of the Lawrence strategic plan and alignment activities. Manage the fiscal year life-cycle of planning and implementing the Lawrence campus strategic plan. Support the planning and execution of the annual Provost Retreat. Support the planning of the annual unit level strategic planning presentations presented by deans and functional leaders on both campuses. This requires collaboration with the Office of the Provost, Executive Vice Chancellor for KUMC, AIRE, and presenters. Support One KU Organizational Assessment & Recommendations (10%) Support the Associate Vice Chancellor of Strategic Development in conducting reviews of the University organization as well as individual units on both campuses, that will inform effective and strategic changes to organizational design. This includes conducting environmental scans and reviewing structure, functions, systems and incorporating peer benchmarking resulting in recommendations that will be presented to the University Cabinet for review. Support Strategic Planning Services (5%) Support the Associate Vice Chancellor of Strategic Development in leading stakeholder groups through a strategic planning process. This involves facilitated planning where the Strategy Office leads stakeholder groups through a process that establishes common purpose, affirms commitment to shared principles, assess key strengths and challenges, and prioritization of strategic goals. Training and planning coordination is also offered to units tasked with the development of a strategic plan for their organizational unit. Other Duties as Assigned (5%) Position Requirements This position will be a hybrid of telework and on-site work as determined by supervisor. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five years of related experience Experience working with key leadership positions in strategic planning to achieve organizational design plans and efficiencies as evidenced by application materials Five years of experience supervising/managing multiple projects to ensure implementation deadlines are met Excellent written communication skills as evidenced by application materials and references Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the demonstrated ability to work with a variety of different groups and build relationships as evidenced by application materials Work experience that required the ability to work independently to manage tasks, make decisions, and solve problems with minimal guidance which involves self-discipline, motivation, and a strong work ethic as evidenced by application materials Experience handling confidential data and materials as evidenced by application materials This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have advanced knowledge, analytical skills and professional competencies necessary to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is commonly recognized as the standard qualification for similar roles in the public and private sector, ensuring that the university remains competitive with industry aligned practices, enhances collaboration with external partners, and supports the delivery of services and programs that meet professional and market-driven expectations.
