Overview
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and includes additional high level duties specific to that position, though the majority of duties are shared.

Sales Generation and Guest Service
Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service to each Guest
Eager and assertive to answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on Guest needs and desires
Anticipate and fulfill Guest’s needs by suggesting additional items and creating a wardrobing experience
Demonstrate product utilizing product knowledge and sales education, sharing that knowledge with the Team
Maintain and share knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices
Remain consistent on personal sales and look for opportunities to impact Teammates’ presentations with the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG)
Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales and total net sales goals set by Store Management
Provide legendary service throughout the store in the Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and the register area
Know exchange and return procedures and use showmanship opportunities
Fill out and effectively use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG) daily
Meet or exceed performance standards in Buckle business builders and guest loyalty including fit appointments, Buckle credit card and guest connect
Investigate and navigate ways to expand Guest selection through inventory tools
Maintain and build good Guest relationships to develop a client-based business
Lead by example with showmanship, customer service and attentiveness
Recognize and communicate Guest Levels with the Team
Ask business-driven and showmanship questions to Manager, Team Leaders and Teammates
Be coachable and welcome feedback to improve sales presentations
Perform leadership actions consistently, even when the Manager is not present
Plan sales goals with Store Manager
Demonstrate ownership of store’s sales performance (Sales, Average sale, Business builders, Denim)
Show passion for product education and showmanship to create results
Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development
Recognize recruiting opportunities using Jobs & Careers cards, referrals and Teammate Recommend
Coach and build relationships through Guest Loyalty and Guest Preferred
Develop skills and assist in leading, directing, motivating and educating new Teammates to meet Buckle’s standards daily
Maintain a positive attitude to create a positive floor culture
Demonstrate personal dress code to coach latest fashion
Participate in daily setup, training, and reviews using the Performance Tracker
Motivate Teammates to complete daily tasks set by Store Management
Coach denim showmanship and fit card results through Teammates and Guests
Create and develop results in your department and balance all actions within your segment
Execute actions from department calendars and track on weekly delegation worksheets
Demonstrate leadership actions during segments and involve Guests with product
Keep fellow leaders and Team updated; remember Guest names
Explain pay and Buckle Benefits; maintain a contact list of top talent
Train on Leadership playbook and SPG Teammate/leader training shifts
Train non-sales positions and adapt to changing sales focuses
Visual Merchandise Management
Own and influence product through zone ownership and assign zones and projects with learning goals
Execute new tools and videos related to zone ownership
Delegate, demonstrate, and review all 4 zones with Store Manager
Ensure teammates follow Visual Standards and Weekly Visual Checklist
Identify merchandising opportunities and communicate recommendations
Provide store tours and ensure freight and life cycle of product are displayed
Contribute to visual changes to improve performance via Performance Tracker
Anticipate changes in product and adjust visuals accordingly
Maintain visual standards on floor and backroom
Operations
Work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday periods as needed
Use planner and complete Opening and Closing Checklists
Monitor security risks and theft prevention; follow Loss Prevention guidelines
Execute POS procedures and handle calls from Corporate Office
Maintain a positive attitude in challenging situations
Follow policies on payments, returns, exchanges and Loss Prevention
Navigate and use all tools on the home page
Provide guidance to non-sales positions
Complete scheduled shifts and cover shifts as needed
Maintain a clean, organized, shoppable store aligned with Buckle’s mission
Provide feedback on merchandise handling concerns
Communicate policy violations and concerns to Store Manager, District Manager, and HR
Understand and apply Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies
Other duties as assigned
Complete New Hire paperwork per HR guidelines and Legal policies
Plan and execute opening/closing tasks and floor actions
Complete markdowns, pulls, freight, recalls, RTVs
Coordinate with Corporate Office Departments to support Store Manager
Maintain inventory of supplies
Handle emergencies in Store Manager’s absence per Company guidelines
Supervisory and Leadership
Comfortable giving and receiving feedback from peers and Management
Support Leaders and promote personal and store growth
Maintain professional relationships with Teammates
Conduct daily interviews as needed to support Team Development
Overcome objections and problem-solve
Self-educate on company tools and share knowledge with others
Understand and administer Buckle Commitment to Success
Ability to travel and cover other Stores within District as needed
Manage schedule changes professionally
Fulfill mission with high customer service and positive team spirit
Special projects and other duties as assigned
