Mobile Building HVAC Engineer

Cushman & Wakefield Rochester, NY area; this mobile role supports the client by maintaining, repairing, and operating building systems and equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation with energy-conscious practices. Job Description Summary
This position supports the Assistant and/or Chief Engineer and Sr. Facilities Manager in the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operation of building systems and equipment. The Engineer will perform routine operation, inspection, maintenance, and repairs of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure efficient operation and life expectancy. The role includes preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs to interior and exterior areas, and will adhere to C&W policies and the highest ethical standards. Job Responsibilities
Ensure ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, lighting, and other installed systems, equipment, and components. Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds for assigned client buildings. Perform major HVAC repairs including compressor replacement, condenser replacement, evaporator coil replacement, and related components. Perform major plumbing replacements including domestic water piping, steam traps, sewage lines, bathroom fixtures, and related components. Perform electrical repairs including conduit installation, cable pulling, panel maintenance, motor maintenance, and predictive maintenance on motors and compressors. Conduct facility inspections and due diligence, reporting as-found conditions impacting client occupancy and operations. Operate, maintain, and repair boilers, heaters, pumps, valves, and piping for steam and hot water distribution. Operate, maintain, and repair refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, pumps, valves, and refrigerant lines for HVAC systems. Operate, maintain, and repair pumps and valves for water or refrigerating liquids; maintain associated lines and appurtenances. Operate, maintain, and repair air compressors, distribution lines, and control devices. Operate, maintain, and repair water filters, softeners, piping, pumps, sinks, toilets, and sprinkler systems. Operate, maintain, and repair electrical motors and engines powering pumps, compressors, and fans. Maintenance of elevators where not serviced by specialized contractors. Operate, maintain, and repair building automation systems for HVAC, including consoles, data panels, sensors, and indicators. Operate, maintain, and repair sanitary sewer systems and sump pumps, including basins and fixtures. Maintenance and repair of trash compactors, kitchen equipment (excluding tenant-owned), and related systems. Recommend improvements to preventive maintenance programs; maintain stock and inventory control. Comply with applicable codes, regulations, and company safety directives; maintain safe work habits. Become familiar with equipment for assigned locations, including building automation, fire/life safety, and related equipment; recommend ongoing improvements to maintenance programs. Ensure management is informed of current operations by compiling and submitting monthly reports. Respond to emergencies as needed; travel may be required for emergency events. Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Apprenticeship program graduate or trade school preferred. Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years of technical building engineering experience with strong HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance background. Licenses/Certifications:
Valid state driver’s license; trade license/permit as required by location (Journeyman/Master Electrician, City License, Operators License, Steam Engineer, etc.); Universal EPA Section 608 refrigerant certification. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience in operation and maintenance of HVAC, boilers, pumps, refrigerant systems, and energy management; strong knowledge of building systems; good interpersonal skills; basic computing skills (Outlook, Excel, Word) and comfort with mobile devices and conferencing tools. Physical Work Requirements
Environment includes professional office or commercial setting; may involve exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, and other hazards. Must be able to wear PPE; may require travel between properties; considerable physical activity including lifting up to 50 lbs and moving equipment; ability to crawl, climb, bend, and stand for extended periods; regular driving between client locations. Schedule & Benefits
Most schedules are typical business hours based on location. May require after-hours, weekend, on-call, or overtime work to handle emergencies or priority maintenance.
