The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Graduate Studies is seeking a part-time contractual Standardized Patient (SP) - Genitourinary Teaching Associate (GUTA) to participate in educational training events for students in the Physician Assistant Program and the School of Pharmacy. Ideal candidates will use acting skills to demonstrate basic or complex symptoms or problems of healthcare situations, providing students an opportunity to learn and be evaluated. Primary Duties: Females: Instruct learners on the correct techniques for performing routine female breast and pelvic examinations. Instruct learners in physician/patient communications. Males: Instruct learners on the correct techniques for performing routine male genital and rectal examinations. Instruct learners in physician/patient communications. Note: The intent of this list of primary duties is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this job. Incumbents perform other related duties assigned. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Minimum Qualifications: EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED preferred. EXPERIENCE:
No experience required, but prior performing arts experience is beneficial. One (1) year of experience working with computers and as a Standardized Patient/PETA/GUTA, a health professional, an instructor, or an actor experience working with Zoom or similar teleconferencing platforms preferred. OTHER:
Additional related experience and formal education may substitute for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to learn, memorize, and demonstrate symptoms or problems of behavioral and/or healthcare situational scenarios. Ability to effectively communicate with learners and faculty. Ability to maintain confidentiality of case information. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Ability to communicate articulately and provide constructive feedback. Ability to observe and remember learners’ behavior for accurate evaluation of their competencies. Possess interpersonal skills when working with clinical learners. If a GUTA or a PETA, must be comfortable discussing and demonstrating own anatomy with others. Hiring Range:
