Overview Element has an opportunity for a

Senior EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) Test Engineer

at our Tempe, AZ location. This role is ideal for an experienced EMI/EMC professional with a deep understanding of MIL-STD-461, RTCA/DO-160, and advanced test techniques such as HIRF and reverberation chamber testing. The Senior EMI Engineer will lead complex test programs, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a technical authority for EMI/EMC testing within the lab.

Salary: $100,000- $140,000 yr DOE

Responsibilities

Lead the planning, setup, and execution of EMI/EMC tests for aerospace and defense programs in accordance with MIL-STD-461 and DO-160

Develop detailed test procedures and ensure test integrity through expert troubleshooting and analysis

Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians, providing hands-on training and technical oversight

Interface directly with customers to define test approaches, resolve technical challenges, and communicate results

Operate and configure a wide range of RF test equipment including antennas, amplifiers, LISNs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators

Analyze complex test data, determine compliance, and write clear, accurate technical reports suitable for regulatory or contractual submission

Support HIRF and reverberation chamber testing, including mode-stirred and mode-tuned environments

Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and procedural requirements while contributing to continuous improvement of lab capabilities

Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field

Minimum of 7 years of direct EMI/EMC testing experience in a lab environment

Expert-level knowledge of MIL-STD-461 and RTCA/DO-160 EMI/EMC requirements and test methods; hands-on experience with HIRF, reverberation chambers, and advanced RF susceptibility testing

Proficiency with RF test instrumentation and software, including calibration and troubleshooting

Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills; able to train and develop less experienced team members
