Salary/Pay Range : $70,000 to $73,000 annually. Compensation will be commensurate upon experience and qualifications. This position is exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) overtime provisions. Work Location

We are seeking a tenure-track

Assistant Professor

in Cultural Anthropology specializing in applied medical anthropology, with demonstrated experience working with and in underserved communities. Preference will be given to candidates whose research incorporates either Hispanic or Asian communities and to those who can relate southern Colorado and/or adjacent regions to research and applied practice. We emphasize high-impact teaching practices and applied community-based research. Candidates with skills in digital media and/or public outreach in courses and research are encouraged to apply. The position involves conducting original research in cultural and/or applied medical anthropology, advising majors focusing on cultural anthropology, and teaching core and elective courses (courses to be decided in consultation with department faculty). Service responsibilities will begin at the department level and expand with years of service. Workload: 40% teaching (5 courses/year with one course offload first year), 40% research, 20% service; subject to change based on departmental needs. Essential Functions

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Teaching core and elective courses in cultural anthropology and supervising independent studies/honors theses; courses may include Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Ethnographic Methods & Theory, and History & Theory of Anthropology. Conducting original research in cultural and/or applied medical anthropology, including publishing and dissemination to stakeholders. Participating in departmental and college service tasks. PhD in Anthropology with a cultural focus required by start date. Active research agenda required. Demonstrated ability to teach at college level required. 2 years of college-level teaching experience preferred. Ability to teach both in person and online preferred. Equal Opportunity
