Overview

Director, Permitting at Terra-Gen, LLC leads environmental permitting for utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects in New York and other markets (e.g., Texas, California). The role oversees environmental planning, permitting, and due diligence across development and pre-construction phases, collaborating with internal project teams, external environmental consultants, legal counsel, and regulatory agencies and conservation organizations. Responsibilities

Oversee environmental permitting and manage tasks delegated to internal teams and external consultants for projects in the development and pre-construction phase. Identify project needs, schedules, and risks; collaborate with internal teams and external parties to execute work on schedule and address environmental issues. Make and/or guide important environmental-related project decisions. Provide input into project design with development and engineering to ensure compatibility with commitments and permit requirements. Maintain complete and organized project records and paperwork. Conduct environmental due diligence for development and acquisition opportunities. Manage consultants providing environmental survey support, including reviewing proposals, scheduling surveys, and ensuring methodologies meet agency input and permit needs. Review technical reports (e.g., ecological screenings, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, avian/bat surveys, and other environmental review analyses). Review and help build permitting application submittals to guide permit issuance from stakeholders. Manage relationships with federal, state, and local agencies and other stakeholders. Represent Terra-Gen in external engagements as a subject matter expert for environmental impact assessment and permitting in public meetings, pre-application meetings, networking events, and industry groups. Apply knowledge of environmental policy, regulation, and compliance affecting permitting and siting. Assist in preparation of longer-term plans and annual budgets. Lead safe work practices and foster a culture of compliance with company policies including Code of Ethics and Employee Handbook. Qualifications

8+ years in renewable energy permitting or 10+ years in a related industry with experience managing the responsibilities listed above. Experience interpreting federal and state environmental laws (e.g., ESA, CEQA, NEPA, CWA) and developing utility-scale project strategies for compliance. Established relationships with agencies and positive reputation with key resource regulators. Strong understanding of environmental impact assessment and management issues in energy markets (California, Texas, and/or New York) and broad knowledge of best practices. Self-directed, detail-oriented leader with positive people skills and teamwork ability. Strong written and verbal communication skills; concise and accurate documentation. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines and to learn internal processes quickly. Ability to navigate mapping platforms (e.g., Google Earth) to interpret spatial environmental data and identify risks and siting opportunities. Substantial experience in the energy sector (California, Texas, and/or New York). Working knowledge of USFWS Wind Energy Guidelines, Eagle Conservation Plan Guidance, Section 10 HCPs, and USACE Individual Permits (preferred). Education

Associates or bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in planning, environmental science, or a related field. An advanced degree in biological science/natural resources/environmental policy or environmental law is a plus. Physical Demands

Mostly sedentary work; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds; repetitive motions; extensive computer use; occasional overnight travel may be required with mileage reimbursement per the current federal rate.
