Overview Punahou Athletics plays an integral role in the student experience. The coaching staff supports more than 120 teams in over 30 sports. Punahou’s athletic program has a history of success and is focused on developing student athletes to be the best team players while upholding the school’s educational mission.
Position Details
Work Year: 3 Months
School Year: 2025-2026, Spring Season
Work Hours: Monday - Friday late afternoons, and weekends
Stipend Range: $1920 - $6990; compensation is commensurate with qualifications
Punahou School offers a comprehensive total rewards program; pay for selected candidates will be determined by knowledge, skills, abilities, training, experience, and internal equity
Responsibilities The Head Coach will inspire, motivate, encourage, and develop each student athlete while teaching techniques, rules, and strategies. The Head Coach will also teach and model sportsmanship, and develop a team system based on the unique abilities of each student athlete.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
Two (2) years of experience with leadership in a successful interscholastic program as a head coach, or other significant leadership experience in building and maintaining a large school program, or other professional-related or athletic-related experience
Background in teaching preferred, with experience working with adolescents
Knowledge of the value of athletics and competition at the intermediate and high school level
Substantial knowledge of the game demonstrated through development of practice plans, offensive/defensive schemes, off-season expectations, and contemporary coaching practices
