The Illinois State Archaeological Survey (ISAS), Prairie Research Institute, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, seeks an Associate Director for Research. This role involves managing externally-funded archaeological research projects, personnel, and budgets. Responsibilities include acquiring funds, managing staff and policies, advising the director, and coordinating research activities. The candidate will also act as a liaison with funding and government agencies, oversee project reports, and potentially assume the survey's daily operations in the director's absence. Qualifications
Ph.D. in anthropology, archaeology, or a related field. At least ten years of professional experience, including fieldwork in transportation archaeology and Eastern Woodlands archaeology. Knowledge of Federal and Illinois historic and burial laws. Experience in personnel, facilities, and budget management. Proven ability to secure external funding and a strong publication record. Preference for candidates with archaeological excavation and analysis experience in Illinois sites. Basic computer skills in word processing, graphics, and databases. Position Details
This is a quarter-time Academic Professional position, with potential to become full-time. Salary negotiable based on experience. The starting date is as soon as possible after the closing date. Application Process
