Overview

Director of Planned Giving, reporting to the ministry Chief Philanthropy Officer, will be at the forefront of managing, planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive estate planning and gift program. You will interpret and apply laws and regulations to all aspects of charitable giving, secure planned gifts, and broaden our philanthropic constituency through major/planned giving donor fundraising. Responsibilities

Strategic Development: Develop and implement a planned giving strategy tailored to the mission and donor needs. Strategic Planning: Monitor and update short-term and long-range strategic plans with measurable goals for the planned giving program. Donor Cultivation: Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors capable of executing major/planned gifts. Personalized Strategies: Formulate individualized solicitation strategies for planned giving prospects. Legal and Tax Advisory: Provide legal and tax information regarding bequests and life income gifts in consultation with donors’ advisers. Document Management: Draft and review gift illustrations and legal documents, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Risk Management: Implement systems to mitigate litigation risks related to planned giving. Donor Advisory: Advise donors on methods for donating property and/or funds to the Foundation. Inquiry Response: Respond promptly to inquiries regarding planned gifts and requests. Estate Tracking: Track estate gifts from probate to completion. Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with Foundation staff on cultivating annual, major, and planned giving prospects. Professional Education: Educate financial professionals about PHS and its mission; conduct seminars for potential donors and professionals. Budgeting and Planning: Develop budgets and planning processes to ensure program continuity and growth. Communication Oversight: Oversee quality of mailings/publications related to planned giving. Committee Management: Provide staffing for the Planned Giving Committee; participate in committees as directed. Recognition Management: Manage the planned giving recognition society. Technical Expertise: Maintain expertise in the technical aspects of planned giving. Record Management: Oversee planned gift donor records and database. Audit Assistance: Assist the Controller in providing an audit trail for planned giving transactions. Policy Maintenance: Maintain departmental policies, procedures, and safety standards. Professional Development: Pursue professional growth through seminars, workshops, and affiliations. Community Engagement: Represent the hospital/foundation in professional/civic service organizations. Meeting Attendance: Attend meetings as required. Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned or requested. What You’ll Bring

Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; preferred in Accounting and/or Financial Planning. Advanced Degree: J.D. in law with experience in taxation, trusts and estates, probate, corporations, contracts, and real estate is preferred; strong knowledge in taxation and related areas. Experience: 8 years in planned giving or a related field at a large nonprofit; includes strategic planning, proposal development, and portfolio management. Success Record: Demonstrated success with estate planning and major gift solicitation. Leadership Experience: 5–8 years of leadership experience preferred. Certification: CFRE and/or CSPG preferred upon hire. Why Join Us

The base pay range is listed below; additional compensation may be available for this role. Pay Range: $68.62 - $108.34 per hour/week (as stated); additional compensation may be available such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, or bonuses.
